Asset Benchmarking Survey

Asset Benchmarking Survey

The next round of the Roads and Transport Directorate (RTD) Asset Benchmarking Survey will commence in early 2023. The RTD is seeking the contact details for Asset Managers in councils.

Councils will be familiar with the Asset Benchmarking Survey which has been conducted on a biennial basis since 2006. It is designed to provide a snapshot of the current condition of Regional and Local Roads in NSW.

For the first time, the 2023 survey will include data on non-timber bridges and culverts. The report enables councils to determine infrastructure shortfall and assists IPWEA NSW & ACT and Local Government NSW in their advocacy to state and federal governments.

Previous editions of the survey report are available on the Roads and Transport Directorate website.

Asset Managers Opt-in
The RTD would like to identify the Asset Manager or relevant person in each council who will be the point of contact. Please fill out the eform and submit on or before Wednesday 21 December, 2022. As the project commences in early 2023, the RTD would be grateful for actioning this request in the timeframe provided.

The RTD will provide training, support and advice for councils who are unfamiliar with the process to ensure they identify the appropriate data to be captured for the report.
