Local Government Week

Local Government Week is designed to showcase the work councils do in their communities, including the wide variety of services they provide.

Local Government Week in 2024 ran from Monday 29 July to Sunday 4 August and the Local Government Week Awards Dinner night was held on 1 August at the Four Seasons Hotel, Sydney.

The week aims to help move the conversation beyond roads, rates and rubbish, to the important and far-reaching role councils play as the hubs of their community. As a sector we are responsible for pools, parks and playgrounds, libraries, local festivals and lighting, cemeteries, childcare centres, community infrastructure and much more.

Using the LG Week digital toolkit

Councils were able to participate in the Local Government Week campaign in a variety of ways. We developed a digital toolkit with customisable assets, key messaging and other tools that are easy to adapt and share across key marketing channels.

The toolkit could help showcase special events, competitions, media, social media and digital newsletters.
